Hey, friend!

I’m Brie Sodano, Founder of Cash Confident™ (formerly Sheep to Shark).

I started my career as a regular financial advisor selling stocks and bonds. I realized that most people don’t have money problems like, “Oh my word, I have so much extra money to invest, but I just don’t have the time. I must call in a professional”.

Right? Is that your most pressing money problem? I didn’t think so.

The truth is most women who are smart, successful, and making good money still have financial challenges.

Student loans, credit cards, and “disappearing money syndrome” are common financial holdbacks. Stress, feelings of being overwhelmed, and embarrassment keep lots of ladies stuck, not just financially, but in jobs or relationships that are less than great.

I am tired of the financial guru’s advice like cash envelope systems or waiting to start life until you are debt free. And what about those savings methods that don’t work in real life!

Are you ready to control the money in your life? Ready for more? Ready to be free
rather than letting your bank account dictate your life. If money stresses you out, or holds you back from living life fully, then you are in the right place.

ABOUT CASH CONFIDENT™

Money is a major source of pain for a lot of people. The concept of Cash Confident™ started while I was an investment advisor selling stocks, bonds and retirement planning services. Clients were looking for advice and guidance on real money problems, not investment advice.

The problems most people face are struggling with debt, confusion about where the money goes, failed attempts at budgeting, and lack of clear financial goals. The products and services I had to offer as an Investment Advisor did not solve these real life problems.

It seems crazy that we go to so much trouble to live a good life. We go to school, get a career, work like crazy and still don’t have what we wanted. Money should not be a holdback or dictator in your life. Getting your financial shit together is a prerequisite for life on your terms.

The mission of Cash Confident is to inspire and enable women to define their own success while living life on their own terms.

I’ve always loved money but I didn't always have cash confidence. I did everything right. I studied hard, got into college, followed my passions and found myself not making progress financially.

I started my career at the Boys & Girls Club. There are two times during my tenure worth telling you about. During the first part of my career with the club, I was the Teen Director. It was a time when I felt happy. Molding young minds, reading Twilight and playing Wii was all in a day’s work.

I was making an impact on kids and the world. Money was the only problem. I was making $40,000. As a wife and mom, I was frustrated because I was having trouble meeting my basic needs. Sending my daughter to pre-school caused major issues with my husband. Even though we shared the same values, the stress crept into every decision we made. I went to college expecting to earn a good living. I knew this wasn’t the type of life I wanted, but I felt trapped at work. I was happy, had great benefits and scared to make a move.
The Slow Transition to Cash Confident™
I attended a seminar where Phil Town presented on stock options. I love the market and had picked my own stocks since college, but I had never heard of options. I obsessed over the idea of making money in new ways.

My husband took an overnight shift, so I started teaching myself how to trade options at night. All the ads and books said I could get rich in 15 minutes per week, which ended up being bull. I watched all the videos on the CBOE and went to all the webinars on ThinkorSwim. I was still scared to trade with real money because I didn’t have anyone to talk to about options. The fear of losing money paralysed me. I needed an education and a mentor.

The classes were really expensive for me at the time and I’d just paid off all our student loans and credit cards. I did the math and it would take me 10 months to save the money to take a class.

I decided to go back into debt. I figured I could make enough in options trades to pay it off within 10 months and then I would be ahead. It ended up working out and I supplemented my income with my options income. I still place a trade from time to time and that skill has helped me several times.

The second time worth telling you about was a major turning point. I was the Interim Executive Director. The club was in the turmoil of change and in deep financial troubles. My salary increased to $53,000 but earning it wasn’t easy. It stopped being fun and every Sunday a hot pit of anxiety would form in my gut. Complaining became an everyday thing and I was driving my friends, husband and family nuts.

Enough was enough and I decided to move on. I applied for a job with Edward Jones where I got all the licenses to be a Financial Advisor. The job promised helping people, freedom and tons of money. Even though I love the market and investments, I wanted to help people solve the real issues with money. The problems that hold us back in life.

That's how the ideas behind Cash Confident™ were born.

I would absolutely recommend Brie’s services because I think she’s great to work with. She’s fun, yet she’s serious. If you’re really serious about making a change, she can hold you up to that. She challenges you in a way that will help you serve a better purpose, become a better person, and get you to the goals you want to get to. If you have an idea of changes you want to make in your life financially and you want to be assured that you can make those changes, she’s a wonderful person to work with.

About Brie Sodano

Brie Sodano began her career as a financial advisor for Edward Jones, one of the largest and most respected investment firms in America, and recently founded her own financial planning firm, Cash Confident™.

“I like to work with ladies who want to be sharks,” Brie says, describing clients as women who aspire to succeed financially by overcoming barriers they encounter in the workplace, sometimes in personal or family relationships, and often when trying to balancing the demands of time and money.

A “shark,” Brie explains, is a woman who “wants money to work for her, knows it is possible, and is open to learning how!”

Brie helps clients learn to accurately assess beliefs about money that affect the way they behave, how to identify and implement solutions to the “disappearing money syndrome,” how to get actions to align with goals, and how to embrace habits that build wealth. Her successful strategies for transforming Cash Confident™ come from personal experience.

Brie worked in the nonprofit sector for a decade, at the Boys & Girls Club in Waterbury, before going into finance. She was generally happy with her work, but also overworked and underpaid. In 2012 she decided to address her own issues by becoming a Financial Advisor. At first Brie was a typical advisor, recommending saving in tax-deferred accounts for retirement and investing to pay for the children’s college tuition. The more she worked with clients, the more she realized that people at all incomes were living paycheck to paycheck.

The barrier to wealth is getting your financial house in order, and Brie believes that anyone can be wealthy if they’re willing to put in the effort to learn how money works. Now Brie focuses clients on solving money problems—such as the issues that make people routinely overspend on things they don’t really need and don’t make them happy. Among many other aspects of financial planning, Brie specializes in student loan forgiveness. Her experience in nonprofit sector positions her to understand government programs.
